Veterans Land Board offers essential training for realtors working with veterans

AUSTIN - Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced today that the VLB’s Texas Real Estate Commission-approved (TREC) Continuing Education course is now available to realtors.

The one-hour elective course is offered at no cost and counts toward realtors’ required training hours. Taught by VLB marketing and outreach staff, the course is available both online via Zoom and in person. The curriculum covers VLB’s home and land loan programs, along with essential issues realtors should be aware of when working with clients.

Realtors enrolled in the course will learn about:

• Home and land loan programs available to eligible Texas veterans, military members, and their spouses.
• Key aspects of VLB’s home loan program, including eligibility criteria, property types, available loan options, new construction, and lender selection.
• Fundamentals of VLB’s land loan program, such as minimum land size, loan amounts, down payment requirements, and the pre-qualification process.
• Common issues that may delay the loan closing process.

The course offers realtors a solid foundation to help them assist veteran and military clients in purchasing homes or land.
