    Refugio County deputies arrest three men on firearms smuggling charges

    REFUGIO, Texas - Refugio County deputies arrested three men early Monday morning.

    32-year-old Enrique Pena from San Benito, and 37-year-old Luis Zertuche and 31-year-old Jose Zertuche, both from Florida, were arrested on firearms smuggling charges.

    In a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 77 South, deputies found in their vehicle two AK style rifles, two AK style pistols, one handgun, and numerous rounds of ammunition.

    The three men were traveling from Florida to the Texas/Mexico border.

    Each man had a criminal history that included firearms smuggling, human smuggling, and narcotics.
