Updates on three men charged with assaulting a man near Moulton in January

HALLETTSVILLE, Texas - Updates now on three men arrested by Lavaca County deputies back in January.

On January 1, three men near Moulton beat and stabbed a man.

20-year-old Jesus Mendiola from Buda is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

His date in district court was rescheduled for September 18.

Mendiola is in the Lavaca County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

He's on an ICE immigration detainer.

In the same case, 23-year-old Miguel Garcia of Buda was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

That's a felony. A

After taking a plea deal, Garcia was sentenced to four years in state prison.

The third man arrested in this case, 31-year-old Enrique Garcia of Granite Shoals, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He pleaded guilty.

His crime was reduced to assault causes bodily injury.

That's a misdemeanor.

Garcia was given a suspended sentence.

He will be under community supervision for 12 months.
