VISD parents can now monitor child's library activity through online portal

VICTORIA, Texas - Parents and guardians of Victoria Independent School District (VISD) students now have access to the district's library management system, Follett Destiny.

Through a new parent portal, families can engage more closely with their children's literary choices. Parents can log in using the email address they provided during school registration to view their child’s library activity. Upon login, they will be emailed a six-digit code to enter.

The portal allows parents to review their child’s current and past library records. For families with multiple children, a drop-down menu provides individual access to each child’s information.

In line with the district’s EFB (local) Library Materials policy, the final decision on library materials rests with parents and guardians, though district staff may assist with material selection. Parents can search for books by title or subject and block books they do not want their child to check out.

If a student attempts to check out a blocked book, the librarian will be notified during the scanning process. Parents and guardians are encouraged to discuss any concerns or preferences regarding their child's library materials with campus librarians or teachers.

For assistance accessing the parent portal, contact visdhelpdesk@visd.net .
