    LNRA MEETING

LNRA had a meeting last night at the Edna High School Auditorium. The meeting catered to the people of Victoria County and surrounding counties.

EDNA, Texas - Last night, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) held a public meeting to discuss a proposed water use permit that would allow the diversion of 96,022 acre-feet of water each year from the Lavaca River. This application was put forth by the Lavaca-Navididad River Authority (LNRA), which plans to build and maintain a dam and reservoir.

Should the permit be approved, it would supply water for municipal, industrial, and mining purposes in Calhoun, Jackson, Matagorda, Wharton, and Victoria counties.

The meeting took place at the Edna High School auditorium and drew attention from local residents. Tad Mayfield, the owner of Lavaca River Ranch, expressed his concerns, noting the lack of an environmental study. He cautioned that damming the river could drastically alter the ecosystem, potentially leading to significant environmental harm.
