Celebration of life for Lisa Yanick-Litwiller set for Saturday
A memorial service will be held at her favorite park Saturday for a longtime Morning Sun photographer and reporter who died in March. Lisa Yanick Litwiller, who died of cancer at age 46, was also a community leader who had recently taken a position as a top editor at Bridge Magazine.
Lansing woman killed in crash, husband seriously injured
A car crash in mid-Michigan claimed a Lansing woman’s life. The 76-year-old woman and her 77-year-old husband were struck by a vehicle in the oncoming traffic lane. She died at the hospital. He was seriously injured.
Erb Makes Dramatic Late-Race Pass for 10th Summer Nationals Win of 2024 at Crystal
CRYSTAL, MI (July 12, 2024) – Tyler Erb has started to put his signature on dramatic late-race passes for the lead with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Late Models. During the 40-lap Feature at Crystal Motor Speedway Friday night, Erb, 27, of New Waverly, TX, had been hunting down race-long leader Dona Marcoullier for the last half of the main event and was on his tail by Lap 30. Then, with five laps-to-go, Erb dove down low into Turn 1 and slid in front of Marcoullier out of Turn 2. The move caused Marcoullier to bump the cushion and allowed Erb to take the lead.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Brian White scored two goals to continue his white-hot streak and the Vancouver Whitecaps beat St. Louis City 3-1 Saturday night. White has scored in four consecutive games, beginning with a hat trick in 4-3 win over St. Louis on June 29. Vancouver (10-7-5) is unbeaten, with three wins, in that span. The 28-year-old, who also scored in four straight games in April became the first player in club history to accomplish the feat twice in a single season.

Pre-orders available for MP Youth Services ‘Coneys for a Cause’
An annual fundraiser for the Mt. Pleasant Police Youth Services Unit is more than a month away, but pre-orders are now available for larger orders of Pixie coney dogs. Coneys for a Cause is scheduled for Aug. 12-16 at the Pixie, 302 N. Mission St., where customers can get $1.99 coneys while helping the youth of Isabella County.
Alma still gathering feedback on proposed ‘social district’
Alma city officials are continuing to gather feedback on a proposed downtown ‘social district.’. City commissioners held a public hearing during their most recent meeting seeking comments on the idea, which would allow visitors to carry and consume alcoholic beverages on sidewalks and “common areas” in the central business district from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.

The Red Door Art Gallery held an artist reception this last Thursday for world renowned muralist and street painter, Wahpeton native, Shawn McCann. McCann, a 1998 Graduate of Wahpeton High School, is known for many things across the Twin Towns. His artwork is a permanent part of the Wahpeton, Breckenridge and North Dakota State College of Science landscape in the more than half dozen murals he has painted. And with one more on the docket, we could be seeing more of his vibrant work brightening up our streets again soon.
Northern Driveline opens with win over Coldwell Banker
STANTON – The 2024 Leo Durocher Tournament got under way on Thursday with Northern Driveline earning a 4-1 win over Coldwell Banker -Craig Heinonen in the opener. Ross Kinnunen gave credit to Northern’s winning pitcher Brent Loukus. He went the distance for the win striking out five along the way.
