Assault With Pellet Gun Leads To Roommate's Arrest In Cudjoe Key

Cudjoe Key, FL - A Florida man was arrested on Tuesday night after allegedly assaulting his 56-year-old roommate in Cudjoe Key.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Bluegill Lane at around 8:59 p.m.

The victim reported that 32-year-old Daniel Michael Reece, his roommate, arrived home intoxicated and an argument ensued.

The situation escalated when Reece allegedly struck the victim in the head with a brick or paver, causing the victim to fall to the ground.

Reece then allegedly retrieved a pellet gun and shot the victim in the nose.

When police arrived at the home, Reece fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by deputies shortly thereafter.

The victim was transported to a local medical center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Reece was taken into custody on two counts of aggravated battery.
