    Travelers Protective Association

    Travelers Protective Association will have the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. at Bahnhof Cafe, 213 W. Main, Cuero. All members and prospective members are invited to attend.

    DeWitt County Farm Bureau announces local scholarships

    DeWitt County Farm Bureau will be awarding scholarships totaling up to $6,000 to qualified 2024 graduating seniors in DeWitt County. These scholarships are only for DeWitt County residents. Applicants from Yoakum High School, Cuero High School, Yorktown High School, Nordheim High School as well as an approved home school program are eligible provided they are the son or daughter of a DeWitt County Farm Bureau member with a current membership. Applicants must be enrolling in a college, university or a vocational school in the fall semester following graduation. Contact your high school counselor for assistance with the application form and other requirements. Submit the materials to the DeWitt County Farm Bureau, P. O. Box 271, Cuero, Texas 77954, or drop off before the deadline at 312 E. Main Street, Cuero, Texas 77954. The submission deadline is March 28, 2024.     Library/Crown Hospice hosts Senior Social Hour

    Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month. The social hour begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Bingo, prizes and snacks are all provided free of charge. The hosts look forward to you attending.

    Cuero Municipal Library provides free access to Ancestry.com when connected to the library’s internet. This valuable service is made available through a partnership with the Dewitt County Historical Commission. Explore your family history at the library.     DeWitt County Vietnam Veterans scholarship applications available

    DeWitt County Vietnam Veterans of America are sponsoring scholarships available to High School senior- level graduating students. This includes homeschooled students who meet certain requirements. They will be awarding five $1000 scholarships to applicants of the Class of 2024. The deadline for completing the applications is April 5, 2024 and can be turned into your high school guidance counselor or principals office Or they can be mailed to DCVVA, PO Box 424, Yorktown, TX 78164. An essay question on the US Constitution is part of the application. Applications can be obtained through High school counselors and The Cuero Record and Yorktown News-View offices.

    Turner Hall Bingo

    Turner Hall will host Bingo every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Turner Hall is located at 5245 State Highway 111 West. For more information, call 361-293-5576.

    DeWitt County Shutterbugs

    Do you love photography? Do you want to learn more, be inspired, challenged? Do you want to get together with other creative photographers? If so, please join us at a Shutterbugs meeting. Meetings are held on every third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cuero, 408 N. Gonzales Street. Please enter through the front door under the awning.     Genealogy library

    Meals on Wheels volunteers needed

    Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas. Meals are delivered once a week on Wednesdays from about 11 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in volunteering you can go to mowstx. org or email volunteer@mowstx.org.
