CULLMAN, Ala. – First Source For Women, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting mothers and families in Cullman County and surrounding areas, is urgently seeking donations to continue providing essential resources. The organization recently announced on Facebook a critical shortage of size 4 diapers, baby bottles and wipes and is reaching out to the community for help.

First Source For Women offers a range of free services to families from the moment they find out they are pregnant until their child turns 2 years old. The nonprofit is entirely reliant on donations from churches and individuals, as it does not receive state or federal funding. This support allows it to provide necessary items free of charge to those in need.

“We are donated an abundance of size 1 diapers for new babies, but we have a need for all size diapers,” explained a representative from First Source For Women. “We have families that have babies in preemie diapers all the way to size 7 diapers. All items we give out are completely free of charge. Material items we always need are diapers, not so much size 1 diapers, but preemie and the larger size diapers we run out of a lot faster than the size 1s.”

In addition to diapers, First Source For Women provides baby food, formula, wipes and bottles. It also offers larger items like car seats, cribs and pack ‘n plays to new mothers, which it purchases using monetary donations. Families can earn “baby bucks” by watching short educational videos, which they can use to “buy” baby essentials.

“We give our families free formula and baby food, and this doesn’t even cost the ‘baby bucks’ points that they earn watching classes,” the representative added.

Items and monetary donations are welcome. Donations can be designated toward specific needs, such as purchasing larger baby items. First Source For Women also maintains Amazon and Walmart wish lists, where supporters can buy needed items directly.
