Sheriff Ennis Wright said the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is currently short-staffed and unable to provide sufficient school resource officers (SROs) and traffic control for all the county schools. Moreover, the Sheriff's Office can only serve schools outside municipal areas. HOPE MILLS, N.C. (WNCN) — A man charged with murdering a Fayetteville woman in 2021 will spend the rest of his life in prison. On July 11, Javeeno Jeno Antonio Resimo of Hope Mills was convicted of first-degree murder for the death of 38-year-old Jessi Marie Lindsley. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
Driver freed after being trapped inside SUV from collision in Cumberland County
A driver is being treated for injuries after being trapped inside an SUV after a collision in Cumberland County.The accident happened Friday after 9 p.m. The Godwin-Falon Fire Rescue and Wade Community Fire Department responded to the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and NC Highway 82 for a vehicle crash and found the driver of one vehicle pinned inside. Investigators said a Toyota Rav-4 and Dodge Durango had collided at the intersection causing the Rav-4 to overturn in a ditch.According to authorities, the windshield of the SUV had to be removed to free the driver who first responders say was not seriously injured.The two people inside the Durango were sent to Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
