AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts has added 6-1 185-pound left-shot defenseman Lucas Olvestad to its roster as a transfer from the University of Denver, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Thursday. Scientists at the University of Massachusetts Amherst-based New England Center of Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases (NEWVEC) have published new findings on Powassan virus, an emerging tick-borne illness that can cause life-threatening encephalitis and meningitis.
