    The 3-Ball and Forced TOs Lead Winter in Victory over New Auburn

    The Winter Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 26 points or more this season. They blew past New Auburn 87-61. This season the Winter Warriors are averaging 73.0 points per game, while giving up just 58.2 points per game.

    Winter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Adam Bednorski out in front who scored 27 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals. Malte Colliander finished the game with a career high 22 points on 8-11 shooting while going 4-5 from downtown. Another player making a difference was Gunnar Greuel, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 23 rebounds, 9 assists, 7 steals, and 6 blocked shots. CJ Thompson finished the game with 13 points on 6-10 shooting as he added in some crucial buckets down the stretch.

    Winter's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5. As for New Auburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. Winter applied hte press the entire game forcing 28 turnovers which included the 22 team steals. The biggest differentiator in this game was Winter's ability to hit the 3. Winter went 11-27 from downtown, connecting on 40.7% of their 3-point attempts.

    Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winter will finish 2023 at home by hosting Butternut at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Auburn will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Prairie Farm at 5:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
