    Winter WI - Malte Colliander, a foreign exchange student and Senior with the Winter Warriors is averaging 1.9 blocks per game.

    On January 5, 2024 in a conference matchup vs the Flambeau Falcons, Malte Colliander (sr), recorded 9 blocked shots, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and logged zero points. Colliander, a 6'5 foreign exchange student come by way of Sweden, has been an X-factor, if you will, for the Winter Warriors in their 2023-2024 season. Dubbed, "Mr. Everything" by the coaching staff, has been doing a little bit of everything.

    At 6'5 most would think he's a post player, however, Colliander has been utilized as a spot-up shooter, and pivotal part of the defensive strategy with his length and mobility in the open court. Colliander has logged a career high 22 points, in a big win over Lakeland East conference leader, New Auburn. On numerous occasions he has grabbed 8 rebounds, he dished out 10 assists against the Bruce Red Raiders, and along with 7 steals, and logged 9 blocked shots vs the Flambeau Falcons.

    9 Blocks is currently under verification as a possible school record, until then, Malte continues to be a pivotal player in the Winter Warriors winning streak. Having won 10 of their last 11 games, the Warriors are sitting in a great position to fight for the Lakeland East conference title. The Winter Warriors Boys Basketball program hasn't won a conference title since 1996, which calculates to a 28 year drought.

    On the 2023-2024 season, Malte has recorded 8.4 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 3.8 assists per game, 2.1 steals per game and 1.9 blocks per game. Currently, Malte ranks 9th in the state in Division 5 for blocks per game.
