Severe weather rips through Custer County, causes power outages
Broken Bow Neb. (KNOP) - Severe weather whipped through Custer County Tuesday evening knocking down power lines and leaving residents without power. A storm spotter observed a tornado a few miles west of the city, causing the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning around 6:55 p.m. By 7:30 p.m., powerful winds ripped through the roof of a dance studio on 5th Avenue in Broken Bow.
Family duo faces forgery and identity theft charges
Custer County, Neb. — Two people face charges in Custer County after Broken Bow police said they forged documents to obtain a loan. Darrel Haumont, 79, of Broken Bow, and Brian Haumont II, 32, of Hershey, are charged with nine counts of second-degree forgery ($5,000 or more) and nine counts of identity theft ($5,000 or more).

Two Local UNL College Students Receive Scholarships
The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation awarded ten scholarships to students enrolled in the Agricultural Education Teaching Program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL). According to Megahn Schafer, executive director of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation, “Classrooms and FFA chapters will benefit from the passion reflected in this year’s applications, and “it is an honor to support these future teachers who will develop strong leaders to ensure a bright future for Nebraska agriculture.”
