What you need to know before heading to tonight's Hozier concert at Blossom

It was already shaping up to be a tricky commute to Blossom Music Center for Tuesday night's sold out Hozier concert.

And now Mother Nature might be getting into the act too.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of northern Ohio including the concert venue tucked in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

The main threat of severe storms runs through 7 p.m. just as thousands of concertgoers will be making their way through the gate.

As of 5:40 p.m., the show was still on, though Blossom did tell attendees to stay in their cars. Doors were delayed 30 minutes until 6 p.m.

"We plan on getting this epic show in, but please be patient with us while we keep an eye on this changing weather situation," officials with Blossom said on social media.

Here's more from a story earlier Tuesday:

Will Blossom cancel the Hozier concert today?

Aside from incidents of severe weather with lightning and high winds, shows at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls generally go on rain or shine.

In the event of a delay or postponement, the venue will make announcements on the giant concert screens or on social media channels including X and Facebook .

On rare occasions, concertgoers will be asked to evacuate the venue and wait out a severe storm in their cars.

On Monday, the venue kept gates closed and advised concertgoers to shelter under the pavilion or stay in their cars when lightning was spotted , but was able to reopen and continue on with the Too Many Zooz show with a delayed start .

Last July, a Jason Aldean concert at Blossom was ultimately postponed to a later date due to severe weather. The show was set to start at 7:30 p.m. on July 20, 2023, and was initially pushed back to 9 p.m. before the venue announced the later concert date. While directing traffic at Blossom as people left, a sheriff's deputy was struck by a Ford F-450 truck pulling a car hauler and sustained critical injuries .

What will traffic be like at Blossom tonight?

Even on a good night − sans a thunderstorm − a trip to Blossom can take longer than you might expect.

With a capacity of some 19,000 people, the roads and highways leading into Blossom quickly back up and the reverse is true once the concert is over and everyone is looking to exit the various parking lots.

And getting to Tuesday's nights concert and future ones is further complicated by the closure last month of the Steels Corners Bridge that goes over Mud Brook and is west of the state Route 8 interchange on the border of Stow and Cuyahoga Falls.

The closure for repairs and improvements will continue into the fall.

Detour signs will navigate drivers leaving Blossom to Wyoga Lake Road and onto Seasons Road.

How early can I park at Blossom for the Hozier concert?

The early general admission parking at Blossom for the Hozier concert starts at 2 p.m. with a $20 charge.

There is also a charge for those queuing early for the regular general admission parking that starts two hours later.

All parking at Blossom including ADA, VIP and Premier opens at 4 p.m.

Concert goers can access the venue's plaza at 5:30 p.m. with the lawn and pavilion seats opening at 6 p.m.

The concert is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
