Letters: Criminals, not Troop Nola, to blame for chases
In recent articles addressing the enforcement efforts by Louisiana State Police Troop NOLA, both praise and criticism have evolved due to troopers pursuing criminals who flee from law enforcement. A recent article in your newspaper stated that State Police have initiated the pursuits. Although State Police initiated the stop of traffic and criminal violators, it is the criminal who initiated the pursuit. Place blame where it belongs and allow the police to do their job.
Opposition against Rails to Trails in Vermilion Parish want to know if anyone is hearing their concerns

When residents asked if the board had a stand, Homer Stelly the chairman of Vermilion & Iberia Parish Railroad Development said they were neutral but throughout the meeting, the question was asked if the board could choose a side and share their thoughts about the project.

Vermilion Catholic takes another shot at reaching mountain top
For the seniors at Vermilion Catholic, the chance to finish writing the last chapter of their story is near. The Screaming Eagles have been close to winning a state championship the past couple of seasons, losing to Ouachita Christian in the Select Division IV State Championship in 2022 and Riverside Academy in the semifinals in 2023. That has motivated this group of seniors to push themselves this offseason and it has rubbed off on the rest of the team as well.
