July 15, marks the start of the PBS Short Film Festival. The festival is designed to increase the visibility of independent films, and for the 11th straight year in a row, a film nominated by Louisiana Public Broadcasting has made the list. This year's film, The Ballad of Rose Mae, is a musical drama by Baton Rouge filmmakers Gray Fagan and Bailey Wax. Shreveport Firefighters Contain Single-Story Residential Fire
Shreveport Fire Department fire crews were dispatched at 9:39pm Sunday (7/14/24) evening to the 200 block of Egan Ave to a report of a single story residence fire. The first arriving SFD fire unit on scene reported the residence to have light smoke coming from the rear right side of the residence.

Shreveport Fire Department Honors a Very Special Dog
Toby is a Very Special Dog That Has a Love for Firetrucks. Ryan and Nicole Hurd rescued Toby. The Hurds said Toby and his littermates were abandoned in a ditch in Shreveport 13 years ago and luckily all the pups were adopted by loving families. Toby has always been obsessed with sirens for a long time his owners say that Toby runs out every time he hears a siren and he howls along with sirens. Toby was recently diagnosed with cancer and the Hurds were told there isn't much they can do for Toby besides keep him comfortable.
