On This Day: Former Northwestern State hoops star claims he received cash from Demons’ coach
Victor Willis played two seasons in Natchitoches. On this day 36 years ago, he claimed they were lucrative seasons. Willis accused Northwestern State head coach Don Beasley of paying him more than $1,000 to sign with the Demons in 1985. Willis also said he got a little spending money from Beasley throughout his time with NSU.

Louisiana Versus Litter: The Litter Hotline
It's no surprise that Shreveport has been in a battle against litter, earlier this year Shreveport Police Department announced they had made their first litter-related arrest. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, along with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), and Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) are launching a statewide program to fight back against litter. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser says "We are ramping up litter enforcement in Louisiana with support from the State Police, Wildlife and Fisheries agents, and local law enforcement. It's important that we educate those guilty of littering and work together to keep Louisiana Beautiful."

What’s New Cell Phone Policy in Shreveport Bossier Schools?
SHREVEPORT, LA - Parents and students in schools across Louisiana are on notice today about new rules for cell phone use in schools. State lawmakers passed a measure tightening the rules. Senator Beth Mizell of Franklinton pushed for passage of Senate Bill 207 which won approval unanimously in the Senate and passed 84 to 13 on the House floor.
Louisiana State Police want your vote in the Best-Looking Cruiser Contest
Voting has begun for the 2024 American Association of State Troopers Best-Looking Cruiser Contest. This year, Louisiana’s submission features a state police cruiser at the LARC Acadian Village in Lafayette. Sgt. Ross Brennan with LSP says the village was chosen because, “it has a really, really nice facility. It has rustic Cajun homes, lazy bayous, tall oak trees and just… has a good background compared to our modern, updated, new state police patrol units.”

1 killed, 1 arrested in Werner Park shooting; victim identified
SHREVEPORT, La. – Shreveport police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting Monday night in the Werner Park neighborhood that claimed a man's life. The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim as Brion Morris, 21. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he died.
