    Another Gem in Spain

We love Spain, therefore little by little we have visited and enjoyed many cities. One of the nicest experiences thus far has been in Mallorca, particularly Palma de Mallorca.

Experiencing the allure of Mallorca (Majorca), one of Spain’s stunning Balearic Islands nestled in the Mediterranean, was majestic. This captivating destination is renowned for its exquisite beach resorts, secluded coves, majestic limestone mountains, and captivating remnants from both the Roman and Moorish eras. We immersed ourselves in Mallorca’s rich history and natural beauty.

Palma de Mallorca did not disappoint. Late September is a great time to visit this destination. Though there were some tourists, it seemed uncrowded. Then again, it was a Monday morning, but let’s not let that disturb the peacefulness felt on this day.

    Something for Everyone

One thing that caught my attention in Palma de Mallorca was the abundance of places that incorporated aromatic herbs into their landscaping. The most commonly seen herbs were rosemary and lavender; others, such as dill, basil, and even some pepper plants, were also included. The combination created a wonderfully aromatic and harmonious blend.

The beach was stunning and the perfect setting to sit and read a book, get a suntan or relax at the sound of the waves. Its creamy white sand felt like velvet between your toes. And the temperature seemed perfect: in the low 80s. The waves swept across the shore while filling the air with their natural aromatic scent, providing us all with a sense of peacefulness.

Do you enjoy snorkeling? Palma de Mallorca has brilliant snorkeling spots. The water is still warm in September, allowing for comfortable swimming. And its crystal-clear waters provide the perfect scenario for observing Mediterranean Sea species. What an incredible and memorable experience to take home.

Though early, shops were open and ready to provide their customers with infinite items, some imported, but most were handmade locally. Their prices varied. There were expensive items and items in the lower price range – something for everyone. We enjoyed a delicious morning snack at a local bakery that left us wanting more. And the price was insane! Only 12 euros for coffee and pastries for three!

    Historic Sites and Charming Villages

There’s more to Mallorca other than its beautiful beaches and shops. Delve into the vibrant capital, Palma, where the nightlife beckons, and marvel at the Moorish Almudaina royal palace. It is the official residence of the King and Queen during their stays in Mallorca. The palace is available for visits from Thursday thru Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Prices begin at 7 euros. And it’s free on Wednesday and Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Or marvel at the awe-inspiring 13th-century Santa Maria Cathedral. It is one of the most famous monuments in the Mediterranean and one of the tallest in Europe. Explore it on your own or take a guided tour. Prices begin at 8 euros, and you can choose between visiting the cathedral alone, including the terraces, or learning about its history with a guided tour.

Discover the charm of stone-built villages such as Pollença in the northern part of Mallorca. Stroll around the cobbled streets adorned with art galleries. Climb the 365 Calvari steps and admire the mountaintop sanctuary of Puig de Maria and the church of Nostra Senyora dels Àngels.

How about a visit to the picturesque hillside village of Fornalutx? It is popular among hikers and bikers who enjoy the GR221 route throughout the length of the mountain. Take in the view and aroma of the fragrant citrus plantations. If you are interested, guided tours are available for your hike, and they provide bike rental should you choose to take that route.

What more can I say about Mallorca? Therefore, go ahead and book your trip. Uncover the captivating tapestry of Mallorca, its scenic routes, and lovely culture. It is a beautiful island with friendly residents and a lot to enjoy.
