LONGMONT — Monarch couldn’t have asked for much more out of the start to new football coach Jeff Santee’s tenure. Longmont, meanwhile, had hoped for better. The mayor of Monarch football, senior quarterback Riley Montemayor, was impressive for a second straight week on Thursday night at Everly-Montgomery Field, helping his boss to a 2-0 beginning to the Coyotes’ fall campaign. The senior threw for 166 yards and two scores in a 30-14 win over the Trojans, who were dealt with even more grim news after their own standout QB, Kolby Holmes, went out with a leg injury and didn’t return.
Longmont Airshow and Expo returns Sept. 14
The Longmont Airshow and Expo will make a comeback at Vance Brand Airport on Sept. 14 after a six-year hiatus. The free air show is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature flyovers from aircraft and performance teams. The expo will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include an early-morning pancake breakfast, historic and military aircraft displays, interactive educational booths and hands-on demonstrations provided by St. Vrain Valley Schools’ Innovation Center, Metropolitan State University – Denver, local flight schools and the federal air traffic control team based in Longmont.
