Eight Establishments Earn Perfect Scores in August Health Inspections, One Business Drops to a C

During the month of August, several restaurants, hotels, and businesses in Coffee County received Environmental Health Inspections by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Several of the businesses received perfect scores, including five restaurants, a childcare/preschool, a hotel, and a rehabilitation service. A few businesses in Atkinson County also received inspections last month, and those scores are also included.

Among more than 30 inspections in Coffee County, only one business received a C. Mack's Minit Mart dropped from an 86 at their prior inspection in January 2024 to a 77. According to the inspection report, Mack's received multiple violations, including issues with food storage, cleaning and sanitation of food contact surfaces, proper date markings, contamination, and approved thawing methods.

Some of the violations listed include a case of butter being stored on the floor, fish being thawed in standing water, several food items without date markings, uncovered pork chops, burgers, bread and banana pudding in the walk-in cooler, and "encrusted can opener, and filthy racks located inside the walk-in cooler coated with dust."
