Avangrid reached a milestone this summer, as the company has now installed 9 Gigawatts (GW) of capacity at its onshore wind and solar sites.

Avangrid has 75 onshore wind and solar projects spread across 22 states in its portfolio. The sites produce energy for 2.3 million U.S. homes.

Construction progress at multiple Avangrid projects this summer helped the company reach this 9 GW milestone – with more than 8 GW of installed wind capacity and about 1 GW of installed solar capacity, including projects that are currently under construction.

“I am proud of the continued progress Avangrid is making to grow our renewable energy footprint nationwide, but we are not complacent,” Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO, said. “With a big pipeline of future renewable energy projects across the country, and a large fleet of onshore wind projects that is ripe for repowering, we remain steadfast in our commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition. In reaching this milestone, we are setting our sites on the next.”

These renewable energy projects not only help each state, and the country, reach their climate goals, but create jobs in local communities, boost economic growth, and contribute to the tax base.

Avangrid, headquartered in Orange, Conn., owns and operates eight electric and natural gas utilities, serving more than 3.3 million customers in New York and New England. Through its renewables business, Avangrid owns and operates a portfolio of renewable energy generation facilities across the United States.
