On Monday, Ameren Missouri announced it would invest an additional $1 million in its weatherization assistance program.

Ameren’s program provides energy-saving home improvements at no cost for qualifying homeowners and renters. The year has already provided over $2 million to support weatherization improvements like caulking, weather stripping, water heater jackets, insulation and more. The $1 million is in addition to the money already invested.

“Customers in need of assistance can take advantage of these funds right away to upgrade their living spaces and start saving on their energy costs,” Page Selby, manager of customer advocacy for Ameren Missouri, said. “We also encourage customers to apply for our energy assistance programs for additional support.”

Households eligible for the program have incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

The company also has a program to help customers stay current on their bills. The Keeping Current program provides payment assistance to help customers make their energy bill more affordable, including a monthly bill credit between $35 and $90 toward the total amount owed. Eligibility guidelines are the same as weatherization so customer can participate in both programs.

Customers who participate in Ameren Missouri’s Keeping Current program, as well as those with elderly and disabled persons, are given preference for the company’s weatherization assistance program. Customers can visit their online account at the company’s website to access personalized solutions to make it easier to manage their energy costs, the company said.
