NERC forms partnership with NEMA to enhance reliability of bulk power system

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) are working together to facilitate the exchange of experience, information, and select data.

This partnership, agreed to through a memorandum of understanding (MOU), seeks to enhance the coordination of activities related to the reliability, resilience, and security of the North American bulk power system.

“We look forward to enhancing our coordination with electrical manufacturers through our partnership with NEMA,” Jim Robb, NERC’s president and CEO, said. “As the grid transforms, new and different demands are being placed on the equipment that supports grid operations. This MOU provides a framework for early collaboration that will prove to be essential for bulk power system reliability.”

NERC is committed to assuring the efficient reduction of risks to the reliability and security of the grid while NEMA represents stakeholders involved in electrical product innovation and technology.

This MOU is expected to drive improvement in bulk power system reliability and enable more effective responses to emerging challenges and opportunities.
