On Monday, Avangrid, a leading sustainable energy company, said installation of solar modules for its True North Solar project in Falls County, Texas, was complete.

The last of the more than 488,000 solar modules were installed ahead of schedule, officials said, making the 238MWas clean energy site the largest solar project in Avangrid’s portfolio.

“This is a major accomplishment and we are proud of the hardworking women and men who are bringing this clean energy project onto the Texas grid,” Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO, said. “In celebrating this milestone, we look forward to finishing the project. This is yet another example of Avangrid executing on its commitment to accelerate the clean energy transition.”

Commissioning the True North site is ongoing, Avangrid said, and the company will begin building a dedicated operations and maintenance facility at the same site. Commercial operations at True North are expected to begin by the end of the year, officials said.

The project is Avangrid’s first solar project in Texas, and once complete will supply clean and renewable energy that will support Meta’s upcoming data center in nearby Temple, it second data center in Texas. The facility will provide Meta with 100 percent renewable energy, helping meet Meta’s net zero commitment.

At the peak of construction, the True North facility supported 350 jobs, the majority of which were sourced locally. The project will support several permanent jobs, and will provide more than $40 million in taxes over the life of the project.
