As part of its recognition of National Drive Electric week, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is highlighting how electric vehicle ownership is more affordable.

As part of the Drive Electric week, the utility company reiterated its rebate program that makes EV ownership more affordable. The Pre-Owned EV Rebate Program provided income-qualified customers with up to $4,000 in rebates when they buy or lease a used EV. Since the program’s launch in 2022, the company has provided more than 6,900 rebates, and more than $60 million in funding is still available, officials said.

“We serve a diverse population and want to ensure all of our customers have the resources they need to make EV ownership an attainable goal,” said Lydia Krefta, Director, Clean Energy Transportation for PG&E. “The Pre-Owned EV Rebate Program is a great resource that has already helped many of our underserved customers transition to electric vehicles, and we offer a number of other programs and incentives designed to help accelerate EV adoption for our residential and commercial customers.”

Funding will be available through 2026, or until the funding runs out.

The company offers other tools and resources, including an EV Savings calculator that helps consumers browse vehicles to find incentives, charging stations and other resources. And the company offers an EV Rate Comparison tool that can help customers find the best rate plan to help with charging vehicles at home.

The company also highlighted it Empower EV program that provides income-eligible customers up to $2,500 in incentives to cover the cost of installing EV charging equipment at home; the Multifamily Housing and Small Business EV Charger Program that installs Level 1 and Level 2 EV Chargers at multifamily housing units; and the Residential Charging Solutions pilot program that provides income-qualified customers with $700 to upgrade existing outlets to approved level 2 charging equipment.

The company said it is also prioritizing grid readiness and building out its grid to accommodate new EV demand.
