They are grateful to get out but have nothing to move in with. 95% of the veterans we help have no furniture. We have been able to provide them with entire house furnishings.”

Too much is at stake for him to remain
I love and admire Joe Biden but believe he cannot win and for the sake of our nation, he must step aside and allow an invigorated campaign to start as soon as possible. Yes, he has the experience and gravitas that others in the party do not have but it means little if he can’t get us across the finish line. The issue must be keeping Trump out of the White House and keeping senate and winning the house.
President is the best option for the country
Here we are again. We had two old white guys running for president in 2020, and the same two old white guys are running in 2024. Nothing has changed except they are both older. I believe President Joe Biden would not be running for reelection if former President Donald J....
Party should gently ‘take the car keys’
Not every Republican Trump supporter agrees with all of Trump's remarks and actions. Not all Democrats (I’m one) always agree with Joe Biden. What we saw on debate night was troubling, causing viewers to question Biden’s fitness for office and once again witness Trump’s lack of ability to respond truthfully. But as Trump supporters are willing to overlook his frightening flaws, it leaves Democrats thinking they have no other choice: Biden.
Can he make it until January?
For all who are now calling for Biden to drop out of the race based on his cognitive state, we must now ask if he is not able to run for president what makes him able to be president through January?. A great many in his own party are finally...
Party over country
By now everyone has a clear perception of the presidential debate. We all saw the cognitive inability of President Biden. It was very clear that he is no longer capable of making decisions at the level needed for his possession. Whether pro-Biden or anti-Biden, it's very apparent that the Democrats run someone else for president. To do nothing and stand pat is putting party loyalty over the love of country.

Uninformed column on Tour de France
Dear Mr. Lincicome: Your column about the Tour de France demonstrates that you are as ignorant as you are eloquent. Your attitude about this extremely challenging event qualifies you for inclusion in the team picture for Ugliest American. You might as well write your next column about labor and childbirth. Your lack of knowledge and appreciation for that subject would rival the one you chose to expound upon.
‘Democracy’ is accurate description
In his July 8 letter to the editor, reader Jim Thompson admonishes other readers here — “esp. Democrats” — that “the USA is not a democracy, we’re a republic.” In truth we are both. While we’re not a strict “direct democracy,” we are a “representative democracy,” yet operating simultaneously as a “direct democracy” in the form of ballot initiatives and referendums since decisions are made directly by way of our votes.
Solved: STEM teacher shortage
During COVID, many experienced engineers of all disciplines were downsized or decided to retire early. These experienced engineers could be utilized to teach STEM courses while adding examples from their years of practice. Now is the time to utilize their hard won knowledge for the benefit of our students. Hiring these engineers would be a win-win for both the engineers and our children. Then the shortage of STEM teachers would be solved.
