Meathead Goldwyn, author of "Meathead, The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling," has spent a lifetime perfecting grilled burgers. For the juiciest burger, he recommends starting with a meat mixture that is 70 percent beef and 30 percent fat. Don't mix salt into the ground beef because it will make the burger tougher. But do add dry spices like onion or garlic powder. Finely chopped onion also adds sweetness. Five to six-ounce patties cooked directly over a medium high heat source are the best to feed a crowd.
Police: Potholes cause about 25 flat tires on Route 53 near Schaumburg Saturday night
No injuries were reported when approximately 25 vehicles sustained flat tires on northbound Route 53/Interstate 290 near Higgins Road in Schaumburg at about 9 p.m. Saturday night. Illinois State Police reported that troopers responded to multiple calls of flat tires in that area and determined potholes to be the cause.
Fun summer event will also help shape future of transportation in Hoffman Estates

Elburn looks to replace train horn system in the downtown
Elburn residents could soon find some relief from the relentless noise of train horns as they approach the railroad crossings in the downtown area. Public Works Superintendent Phil Van Bogaert said the wayside horn system installed at the intersection of First and Main (Route 47) streets in 2009 has been malfunctioning since October 2022.
