Loop-the-Loop: NASCAR restarts its engines for downtown street race
It seemed improbable in 2023 — turning downtown into a racetrack with stock car stars hurtling past Buckingham Fountain at 90 mph. But aside from a show-stealing downpour, last year’s NASCAR Chicago Street Race was a smashing success and it’s back this weekend. Will Shane van Gisbergen...

You should have a couple of pre-rigged plastic worm baits in brown or dark green. I like the Ike Con Worm the best. These baits really catch fish and are easy to use.
‘Team USA was always the dream’: The son of immigrants, Juda proud to represent his country in the Olympics
For as long as he can remember, Deerfield resident Paul Juda has been traveling to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Last Saturday, in the second and final day of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials at the Target Center in Minneapolis, the Stevenson High School graduate became an Olympian, earning one of the five coveted spots on the U.S. team.
Daily Herald opinion: On Independence Day, we celebrate our nation’s birth and recommit to its future
Editor’s Note: The editorial below is an updated version of one first published on July 4, 2014:. John Adams, an imperfect but reverent statesman, is one of our favorite Founding Fathers partly because he left a greater written record of his life than any other founder and partly because he was so wont toward endearingly painful self-reflection.
