    Three juveniles in custody after stolen truck found in Jefferson

    JEFFERSON — The Jefferson Police Department was notified of a stolen vehicle from Dane County found in a parking lot in Jefferson on Monday morning.

    A 1996 Ford F-150 was found unoccupied in a lot near the 200 block of East Truman Street. Witnesses reported three individuals hiding in a wooded area in the 1000 block of Tensfeldt Avenue.

    The suspects were identified as 12-, 14- and 15-year-old juvenile runaways from Dane County. Officers and deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter around the area. When the suspects refused to exit the woods, a foot pursuit occurred.

    All three juveniles were taken into custody without further incident. One of the suspects was found with the keys to the stolen vehicle and other personal items belongings to the vehicle’s owner.

    Charges of operating without owner’s consent and theft are being forwarded to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office for review.
