There's plenty of reasons to get fired up about being in Morristown on Sunday.

Partly sunny skies and seasonal temperatures are forecast for the annual Morristown Festival on the Green , which runs from noon to 5 p.m., rain or shine, on and around the town's center square.

Along with multiple stages featuring bands and other live entertainment, a wide variety of activities await the thousands of visitors expected to attend. Attractions will also include 160 exhibitors, carnival games, fitness classes and the ever-popular beer tent.

    Morristown rededicates Revolutionary cannon

Early arrivals can warm up for the fall festival by attending the rededication of a Revolutionary War replica cannon in front of Acorn Hall , located across town on Morris Avenue. The event is the unofficial kickoff of the countdown to Morris County’s celebration of America’s 250 th anniversary in 2026.

Located down the road from the Washington's Headquarters Museum , Acorn Hall and its cannon are symbols of the rich Revolutionary War history in the county that includes the site of two winter encampments by General Washington and his troops. The region is home to other nationally significant landmarks such as the Ford Mansion, Fort Nonsense and Jockey Hollow .

Installed some 20 years ago, the cannon had been showing signs of wear and tear but has been restored. Its redeciation will begin with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m.

Who's playing Morristown Fall Festival stages?

Primary destinations at the Fall Festival will include a Main Stage, at South and DeHart Streets, featuring the Heart of Gold Band.

The Concert on the Green venue in the center of the Green will feature classical music favorites by the Stone Soup Symphony Orchestra from noon to 130 p.m.

At the corner of Morris Street and Dumont Place, the Sound Stage will present the TropyBand Orquestra from noon to 1:30 p.m., the MPAC Select Program from 2 to 3 p.m. and Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns from 3 to 5 p.m.

Morristown Municipal Airport is sponsoring the Beer Tent on Schuyler Place, where a variety of beers and seltzers will be served.

    Activities for kids

Family activities include carnival games along North Park Place and a Kids Place amusement center on Speedwell Avenue. Activities there will include an inflatable corn maze, double lane slide, 3-lane obstacle course and more. The Kids Place also will present family-friendly entertainers on the Family Jam stage, including Dinosaurs Arise (12:30 to 2 p.m.), Polka Dot! (2:30 to 3:30 p.m.) and Wallaby Tales (3:45 to 4:45 p.m).

Festival food and vendors: 'Come hungry'

Scores of exhibitors include government and nonprofit services, local businesses and political parties. But among the biggest attractions the festival offers are many local restaurants, some of which will offer free samples and sell menu items right on the sidewalk for al fresco diners.

"Come hungry," the sponsoring Morristown Partnership advises.

Valley Bank is this year's presenting sponsor.

    Morristown parking and road closures

Police advise that several roadways in town will be closed as early as 6 p.m. on Saturday to accommodate the event set-up.

Parking in metered stalls in and around the Morristown Green will be prohibited after 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Dehart Street, Bank Street and Dalton public parking garages will remain open into the evening hours on Saturday, but will have modified access late night on Saturday and all day on Sunday.
