WASP-193b is a newly discovered planted located 1,200 light years from Earth. Perplexity.ai curator Brainvw, publishes that the planet is 50% larger than Jupiter and only 1/7th the size in mass.

Scientists note that Puffy Jupiters have been observable for over 15 years by astronomers. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) discovered that WASP-193b has low methane levels, resulting in a hotter interior than previously thought. The planet's elliptical orbit may be responsible may be responsible for its expansion.

WASP-193b is the second light planet ever discovered. This gas-giant planet makes its orbit around an F-class star every 6.2 days. Scientists also speculate that tidal forces from its star gives the planet its puffy state.

The research platform, Perplexity states that WASP-193b's existence challenges classical planetary evolution models, such as an inflated atmosphere should not have persisted for billions of years in its close orbit around its star, according to NASA.
