A Brooklyn, NY duo who used a screwdriver to break into a pickup truck in the Restaurant Depot parking lot were arrested leaving the lot by an arriving officer on Wednesday, Sept. 25, Police Chief Dennis Miller said.

Officer Jaden Gonzalez saw Travis Murphy and Jed McDougal, who fit the description of the burglars, in a vehicle when he stopped them just before 4 p.m., Miller said.

In addition to a witness identifying Murphy and McDougal as the burglars, a screwdriver and proceeds from the burglary were found inside the vehicle they were riding in, the chief said. At the time of their arrest, Murphy gave false information regarding his identity, Miller said.

Murphy, 35, and McDougal, 46 — who stole cash and personal items from the Dodge pickup — were charged with burglary, theft, and conspiracy to commit burglary and theft. Murphy was also charged with hindering is own apprehension.

When are thieves going to learn not to go to Secaucus to try and steal. Especially coming from NY, they don’t know the area, and it’s nothing like NY. Over there they look out for each other, you will never see that in NY. 1 Love
