Dan Jeannotte, of Enfield, was killed Sunday, Sept. 22, when his car veered off the Exit 40 ramp on I-91 in Windsor and hit a tree around 2:30 a.m. He died at the scene.

The 2005 Enfield High School graduate leaves behind a wife and daughter along with many family and friends.

"He was the most caring and considerate friend I’ve had," Nate Silliman said in a message to Daily Voice. "Always willing to help with anything. ... Kicked my butt in pool every time, though."

His family wrote in his obituary, that Jeannotte was an engineer whose intelligence would often go over the head of his loved ones. The University of Massachusetts grad worked as a chemical engineer at Coherent Corp. in its East Granby office, according to his LinkedIn.

But it's his love of his family and music that were the driving force in his life, per his obituary.

His second love, after his friends and family, was music. He was an avid music listener and talented guitarist who created lasting memories with those he loved going to live shows from Metallica to Pearl Jam to Aerosmith when he was not jamming with his Optic Nerve band mates, John Heller and Alan Bryant. Beyond music, Dan was an Eagle Scout, a skilled pool player, a golfer, a gamer, an endless source of quick-witted, dry humor and a fluent Portuguese-speaker, having learned full use of the language in one months' time to best communicate with his love, Daniele, who would later become his wife.

We love you, Dan, your laugh will echo in our hearts forever.

A memorial service for Dan Jeannotte is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2. at Leete Stevens Enfield Chapels at 61 South Road in Enfield.

The family will hold a graveside service at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery on King Street in Enfield the following day at 11:30 a.m.
