On Monday, a student reported to the School Resource Officer assigned to Aberdeen Middle School that they overheard two classmates talking about placing a bomb in a toilet in the school bathroom.

The investigation into the allegation found that two students - ages 12 and 14 - were identified as the culprits, and they were tracked down on school grounds and searched.

"While, it is important to note, no items that could be used to make a bomb were located, writings and drawings describing how to make a bomb, were located in both of juveniles' possessions," investigators said.

The 14-year-old student was charged with making threats of mass violence; however, based on current Maryland law, the other cannot be charged due to their age.

It is the latest incident of threats targeting area schools.

In each instance, the threat has been documented, officials noted, and investigated. Charges were filed, when appropriate.

"We commend the student who followed, 'see something, say something' and quickly found their SRO to confide in what they saw," according to a spokesperson from the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

"Our children deserve a safe place to learn free from threats of violence."
