At 4:50 p.m., a man exited his vehicle at Clinton Avenue and Bergen Street and accused the victim of hitting his car, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The victim got out of his truck to look at damage and when he didn't see any, the man and a passenger in his vehicle assaulted the victim, punching and kicking him, Fragé said.

While on the ground, the passenger attempted to take the victim’s wallet but was unsuccessful, Fragé said. After the assault, the man and the passenger got back in their car and fled eastbound on Clinton Avenue, Fragé said.

The suspect pictured below is believed to frequent the area of Clinton Avenue from Chadwick Avenue to Seymour Avenue and the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Farley Avenue, Fragé said.
