A 47-year-old Connecticut man was killed this week after a car going the wrong way on I-95 collided with his vehicle, authorities said.

Mark Palumbo Jr., of Madison in New Haven County, was driving his Mustang GT south along I-95 between exits 66-65 in Westbrook when the crash happened around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, Connecticut State Police said.

A Cadillac ATS driving north in the southbound lane slammed into Palumbo's sports car, killing him, police said. The other driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, and paramedics took him to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.

Palumbo was a father to two young girls and left behind a wife and a business.

Memorials for him have begun to sprout across social media as news of his death spreads.

"You will be greatly missed and your memories of laughter will shine bright in my household," one person wrote. "Thank you for being a great influence on my and many others' lives!

Police are investigating the crash and ask anyone with information to contact Trooper Sorsor at 860-399-2100.

Another death due to someone driving the wrong way down a highway. Put down strips that’ll puncture all their tires if they get on an exit the wrong way.

This is so sad not that long ago close to Cleveland Ohio. It was dark at night and I was on an exit and I was trying to get back on the highway and the way that they structured there roads confused me and I went down a one way thank the Lord as soon as I noticed it, I pulled to the side of the road and then turned around. It’s so scary. I’m so sad that this happened to this man and the person who caused it lived. I understand accident happened but Lord that’s so unfair.
