A woman died while working as a traffic flagger at a construction site early morning on Thursday, Oct. 10, Lancaster County Wide Communications said.

While directing traffic the 56-year-old woman was struck by a SUV at the intersection of Stone Mill and Plymouth roads in Manor Township around 7:38 a.m., according to LCWC.

The Lancaster County Coroner's Office was called to the scene. Her body was taken to the forensic center for an autopsy. Her cause and manner of death are pending those results.

She reportedly was with the utility company working in the area.  She has been identified but her name is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin.

A man who was driving the SUV stayed on the scene and is cooperated with police.

Stone Mill Road was shut down between Millersville Road and Fairway Drive for approximately two hours.

The Lancaster County crash reconstruction team is investigating.

Prayers for the family of this woman & the crew she worked with. Another senseless death. I worked as a flagger for a bit with Adecco. we were sent out with cable trucks hanging new fiber optic lines. Too often drivers didn't want to wait. Once in Columbia, PA a new box truck went right past me & collided with cable truck with guy up in the boom!! He ended up seriously hurt. We all did drug tests. My last Straw was an 18 wheeler who flew thru instead of stopping & just missed me. That was my Last Day!! GOD BLESS ALL CREWS WHO RISK THEIR LIFE EVERYDAY!

I know some states it’s you kill a construction worker it’s mandatory 5 years in jail! Not sure what the circumstances are in this situation but if the DA finds this person was on his cellphone there needs to be jail time
