Armed Man On Loose After Trying To Rob Screaming Victim In New Rochelle

The incident happened in New Rochelle on Wednesday, Oct. 9 just before 7 p.m., when a Hispanic man approached a 66-year-old woman on foot and showed a silver handgun while demanding her belongings, according to New Rochelle Police.

The victim then began screaming, prompting the suspect to run from the scene into the nearby Harbor House apartment building property. There, the woman lost sight of him.

Luckily the victim was not injured and kept all of her belongings, police said, adding that responding officers searched the area but could not find the suspect.

Detectives are now investigating the case. Anyone with information should call the department at 914-654-2300 or anonymously at 914-632-COPS.
