    Hudson Man ID'd As Victim In Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash, Driver Charged

    The collision occurred in Greene County at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, on Route 54 in the town of New Baltimore.

    According to Capt. Joel Rowell of the Greene County Sheriff's Office, an investigation into the fatal crash found that a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee being operated by 43-year-old Columbia County resident Evan Kravitz of Hudson was headed southwest on CR 54 when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck several trees.

    The passenger was identified as 29-year-old Vance Cohen of Hudson and was pronounced dead at the scene, Rowell said.

    The Greene County Sheriff’s Office charged Kravitz with:

    • Vehicular manslaughter
    • Driving while ability impaired by drugs

    Kravitz was arraigned in the Town of New Baltimore Court and remanded to the Greene County Jail without bail.

    At the scene, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by:

    • New York State Police
    • New Baltimore Fire Department
    • Medway-Grapeville Fire Department
    • Coxsackie Ambulance
    • Greene County Paramedics
    • Greene County District Attorney’s Office.
