(Lewiston, ID) – The top five runners for No. 15 LC State Women’s Cross Country remained consistent on Saturday to help the Warriors place ninth at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. Grace Tiegs ran a personal-best time in the 5k to lead the squad.

“I thought our women looked really good today,” Head Coach Mike Collins said. “They did what they needed to do when it came to learning and racing against conference teams. Excited about the progress that we can hopefully make there, as well as when we race at home on a course that typically runs a little bit faster than this one. Hard to gauge how this might relate to a 6k which we will run in Nebraska, at conference and at nationals. Hopefully as races get longer, we will get better.”

Tiegs led the Warrior women with a personal-best time of 18:35.5. She placed 35 th in the field, followed by the freshmen duo of Lily Bennett in 54 th (18:51.9) and Damaris Kibiwot in 60 th (18:56.2).

Junior Camille Ussher was the fourth Warrior across the line in 73 rd (19:17.2) and Abigail Shumaker was 82 nd (19:22.8) to round out the top five.

Grace McCormick finished 142 nd (20:26.9) and Haileyann Johnson was 198 th (23:29.2).

No. 6 College of Idaho was the top NAIA team at the meet with a fourth-place team finish. LC State placed ahead of CCC opponents Eastern Oregon, Oregon Tech and Bushnell.
