The Morris County Collaborative has put out the call for a new office manager and is currently taking applications. Minimum salary is $35,568 and experience and other qualifications are required. The office manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the office and providing general administrative support to the board to enhance productivity to ensure the success of the Collaborative. The duties and responsibilities include, scheduling meetings and appointments, monitoring, and ordering all the office supplies, greeting visitors and assisting with all projects and activities of the Collaborative. Must possess the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with persons of a diverse ethnic, economic, and cultural background. Carter BloodCare: Need for blood hits critical level for local patients
Blood donors are lifesavers for local patients who need transfusions. This includes children fighting cancer, mothers going through difficult childbirths, family members who require surgery, and grandparents with health issues, among many others in need. Now, Carter BloodCare has noted, that need is at its most severe. Daingerfield Chamber, EDC announces Cubbies location coming to former Jones Shopping Center
Growth in and around Daingerfield is ongoing and a new travel stop will soon call Daingerfield home. The Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation announced last week that the newest location of Cubbies Travel Center will be built in Daingerfield, at Texas Highway 11 and Linda Dr., at the site of the former Jones Shopping Center. The site of the travel center is slated to be 5,000 square feet, and could include a 10,000 square foot strip center for general retail. The travel center will include a yet-to-be determined restaurant. Cubbies has three locations in East Texas – in Mount Pleasant, Gilmer and Gladewater. Officials with the Daingerfield EDC said, “ The developers are in meetings with multiple name brand restaurant franchises to occupy the restaurant space and are excited about possible tenants for the remainder of any available retail space. Until now this project has been held up by some necessary conversations with TXDOT, but the go ahead has been given to the developers and the Daingerfield City Council was informed and updated at the last meeting.” The Chamber also announced recently that Tentaciones, a Mexican sweet shop, will be opening soon, located at the former site of the city barbershop.

Atornado measuring a half-mile wide caused severe damage and left more than 160,000 homes without power in East Texas and Louisiana. East Texans are no strangers to storm damage, but that does make us targets for fly by night contractors looking to take advantage of storm victims. Book Sale The Hughes Springs Area Public Library is holding an ongoing book sale during library hours. Suggested donations are one dollar per hardback and twenty- five cents per paper back book. Roceeds will be used for the library activities and supplies. Families, disaster workers find temporary home at NTCC
A combination of widespread power outages, thunderstorm damage and dangerous summer heat left thousands of Northeast Texas residents without access to basic necessities last week. Thankfully, Northeast Texas Community College was able to assist a few of them by providing a safe, cool place to stay. Rain threat does not damper first Daingerfield Music Fest
, , The threat of rain and heavy showers nearby didn’t wash out the enthusiasm as Daingerfield held its first Music Fest. The Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce, in association with the Texas Commission on the Arts hosted Music Fest 2023 at Daingerfield City Park on Friday. An excited crowd headed to the park to hear music from several local musicians and headliner Kamica King. Due to the threat of showers, the event started approximately an hour earlier than anticipated. Local musicians Linda Shaddix, Rock Jones, Jackson James, Tra Young, Wade Kerley and Elizabeth Posada will perform at the event. The headliner is singer/songwriter Kamica King. King is based out of Dallas and performs folk/ soul music “inspired by various styles of soul, jazz, folk, hip-hop and Afro-Caribbean music.” For more information on the singer, visit www.kamicaking.com.
