A local non-fiction author from Daingerfield will have a book signing in Lone Star this weekend.

Vernetta Castleberry is a native of Daingerfield and has been teaching at the Daingerfield Jr. High for 17 years. She recently published her third book ‘Love Doesn’t have to Hurt - Learn to Love Yourself’. Her books are about trauma that can come from toxic relationships and how one can get past the pain and begin to heal.

In Castleberry’s book, she also discusses various strategies on how to love yourself and walk away from situations and people who drain you emotionally, mentally, physically, and sometimes financially.

Additionally, Castleberry is the founder of a book club called ‘Self-Love is the Best Love’.

“It allows me the opportunity to gather with others, in-person and online,” Castleberry said. “We break down the chapters in my other book ‘Sis, Stop Sleeping; It’s only an Illusion’, as well as my recent book. With this book club, my goal is to help young men and women understand that toxicity is real as they gain knowledge on how to love themselves more so that they won’t have to be in a toxic relationship or marriage. Learning how to love and be loved properly is very vital in this new era because toxicity is on the rise.”

Castleberry’s book signing will be this Saturday, July 20, at the New Birth Baptist Church in Lone Star, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
