Photographer heads Southeast tech units
WINONA, Minn. – Minnesota State College Southeast has a new dean of trade and technology: Photographer and filmmaker Jake Griggs. Formerly he was associate liberal arts dean at Rochester Community and Technical College. Griggs began as a dean at Southeast in February but the appointment was announced belatedly. Griggs has degrees from University of Wisconsin-Stout and Drake University. He has taught at Western Technical College and UW-Stout. For 17 years he’s operated Drifting North Media out of Dakota in southern Winona County. He has specialized in business and family photography and video and design work. His “Three Bells” on a terminally ill mother has been exhibited at the Door County Short Film Festival in 2022 and at the Spring Grove International Film Festival in Fillmore County.

Viroqua man injured after car runs intersection, into parking lot of area business
VIROQUA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports a single-vehicle crash occurred early Sunday morning, July 14, 2024, in rural Viroqua, in the town of Viroqua. The Sheriff’s Office says at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center was notified of the crash. The Sheriff’s report states that Colton William Anderson, 20, of rural Viroqua, was driving south on State Highway 82 and went through the intersection of State Highway 56 and crossed both the west and eastbound lanes. The vehicle then went off the south side of Highway 56, traveled down an embankment into the parking lot of Sheldon’s Auto Wrecking and struck a fence and a gate.
