Cardinals Perform Well at Cross Country Season Opener
VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Ball State cross country opened its season at the Winrow-Valparaiso Open 5k on Friday morning. Overall, the team finished fifth of nine teams with 165 points. Carly Spletzer led the team, finishing 21st overall and crossed the finish line with a time of 18:44.5. Close behind, Sarah Mahnensmith finished 30th with a time of 18:54.4. Coming in third for the Cardinals was Jessica Velez who finished 38th overall with a time of 19:30.3.
Women’s Golf Welcomes Gala Dumez
Gala Dumez, a former Big 12 champion and French National Team player, has joined Ball State's women's golf coaching staff as a graduate assistant. Head coach Cameron Andry expressed excitement about Dumez's positive energy and commitment to player development, both on and off the course. Dumez completed her collegiate career at Texas Tech with an impressive 72.7 stroke average, capturing the individual title at the 2021 Big 12 Championship and setting the event's record for lowest 54-hole score at -14. Throughout her college tenure, she contributed to three NCAA regional appearances and has an extensive track record in both collegiate and international golf.
