One more week remains on the summer calendar for Dallas Center-Grimes after the Mustangs notched a combined 25-0 score over the last two games en route to the state tournament.

    Softball (32-8)

With Izabella Mulder standing safely at second base, the Mustangs’ 10th run came home on Tuesday night, propelling Dallas Center-Grimes to the state tournament with a 10-0 win against Perry (10-19) in the regional championship game.

DCG made quick work of the Jayettes, needing just four innings to punch their ticket on the same field where ADM stole a win last season, sending the Mustangs back to Fort Dodge for one last state tournament hunt with head coach Steve Schlafke.

The Mustangs earned the second seed in Class 4A and will begin their quest on Monday at 2:30 p.m. facing seven-seed Carlisle (34-8) in a revenge spot, as the Wildcats won their previous meeting with the Mustangs 3-2 two weeks ago. That game was largely decided by the defenses backing up two aces, with only six strikeouts thrown between both teams.

    Baseball (34-3)

DCG made quick work of their opening draw in substate competition against Sioux City West (5-34) with a 15-0 win on Friday led by Tate Perrin’s home run and five RBIs from Eli Rupp. That pushed them straight to the state qualifying round. The Mustangs will take on Sioux City East at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Burnett Complex in Dallas Center.
