The Dallas County Water and Sewer Authority announced a boil water advisory for its residents experiencing low to no pressure at all in the Selmont area.

Officials said the first leak was discovered Sunday night caused by a damaged fire hydrant.. The resulting water pressure loss, followed by sudden pressure changes probably caused more leaks. Officials project over 35 gallons of water were leaked.

On Wednesday, Dallas County Water & Sewer Authority distributed bottled water to citizens in the affected areas of low water pressure or temporary turn-off due to water issues on the South side of the County.

A few residents in the Selmont Community called The Selma Times-Journal and said they have not received water since 5 p.m. Sunday.

Residents are advised not to drink water without boiling it first and also use it to brush teeth, wash dishes, and cook food until further notice.

The boil water notice is in effect until the system can be flushed and water samples can be tested, likely Thursday, with results expected on Friday.

Dallas County Water and Sewer Authority officials said they will inform residents when it is no longer necessary to boil water.
