The Arguable King of Dallas Hospitality, Kevin Kelley, Is Serving Up Kanvas Sports + Social Sometime This Summer

Kevin Kelley , the creative mind behind Kitchen + Kocktails , Vivo Dallas and the legal legend of Kelley Law Firm , is launching Kanvas Sports + Social this summer in the heart of Deep Ellum.

Kelley told What Now Dallas that the concept is very special to him and has undergone four years of careful curation. “We’ve been working on the menu, the vibe, the energy, the design so it will be everything a high end sports bar should be.”

Even with all the exciting elements that meet the eye, Kevin says food will always steal the spotlight.

The menu will feature chargrilled oysters, in the varieties of Fried Oyster Rockefeller, Garlic Parmesan and Peach BBQ, table side flaming nachos, lemon pepper, hot, Bourbon BBQ or Whiskey Teriyaki wings and entrees like the Hawaiian Ribeye, lamb burger, or large smashed potatoes with a variety of crave-worthy toppings.

“The Kanvas lamb burger is the best I’ve ever tasted,” Kelley said of his menu item. “We also make sure to have a vegan burger option to show our love to those with such dietary preferences.”

The drink menu won’t disappoint either, featuring specials like the Blackberry Old Fashioned, Smoked Peach Old Fashioned, and a Chocolate Tequila old fashioned that has been tested, enjoyed, and is now ready for its Dallas debut.

“We are fortunate for the thousands of people who eat our food each year because they find it to be the best comfort food there is,” Kevin said. “We plan for the food at Kanvas to stand on its own, so even if you aren’t a sports fan, you look forward to stopping in for your favorite meal.”

By its open date, Kanvas will feature 44 screens, some streaming live events, while others boost the vibe with sports imagery and photography.

Kevin says the 5,000 square foot space will also feature a 5,000 rooftop, and all of it will combine to form a safe space in the heart of Deep Ellum.

“It will be a safe, high-security space,” he said. “And it will also be a non-smoking environment so our guests can walk out with the same scent they entered with.”

The space will also offer areas available for private parties or corporate events. All in all, Kelley said the concept is something that really excites his team, and he believes Dallas patrons will feel the same.

The standout logo was created in collaboration with Cameron Pate, a finishing touch on what Kelley says will be a combination of Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club and a traditional ESPN sports bar.

“It’s not just for men, or for after work beers. Kanvas will be for everyone — a lady who wants to enjoy food and friends, or a family who wants to enjoy a night out together.”
