All five Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations in North Texas will reopen this summer after being purchased by their corporate office.

“We’ll be opening them back up as soon as possible and as each theater is ready,” company officials announced Thursday on social media. “On top of that, we have even more exciting news to share about how we’ll be making up for all the lost Film, Food, and Fun.”

The cinema chain closed all five of its DFW locations — two in Dallas, one in Irving, one in Richardson and one in Denton — in early June after the franchise that owned them filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. A Woodbury, Minnesota, location was also closed and will reopen later this summer, according to the social media post.

Alamo Drafthouse opened its first movie theater in Austin in the late ‘90s. Now it operates locations throughout Texas and has expanded into more than a dozen states .

The company is known for serving meals and drinks during movies and hosting themed events and retro screenings. According to the Alamo Drafthouse website, they are also “obsessed with making sure that each film looks and sounds the best it possibly can .”
