4Batz Explains Why He’s Changing His Look And Removing The Mask

4Batz parlayed his viral success into a blossoming music career and as he progresses in the industry, the 20-year-old is uncovering himself, literally. Beginning his fame journey often sporting a full ski mask showing only the center of his face and his gleaming gold grill, lately, the Dallas-bred talent has shifted to showing his full face and hair.

Armed with a bowl of Nissin Cup Noodles, the “act ii: date @ 8” singer spoke to VIBE about what influenced the change on the red carpet ahead of the 2024 BET Awards.

“Honestly, I’m going to keep it real, the females didn’t like it. And whatever the females say, I go about it,” he shared. “A couple of females were like, ‘Yo, just take the mask off.’ I took it off, they were like, ‘Ooh! Ahh!’ So I was like, ‘We outside now.’ It’s just a different era.”

Nominated for Best New Artist at the 2024 BET Awards, the rising musician also reflected on the potential first award of his career elsewhere in the conversation. Later during the live broadcast event the award went to South African singer Tyla.

“Man, I’m blessed, man. I can’t lie, you can see it on my face. This is so surreal to me. I only been doing this for six months. I mean, I’ve been making music forever, but I released my first song maybe 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 months ago. So for this to happen like this, it’s just telling me I’m on a good path.”

Officially, 4Batz released his first single “act i: stickerz ’99” in June 2023. He kept the momentum going with “act ii: date @ 8” that December which eventually landed him on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, debuting at No. 77 , gaining popularity in March 2024 after a Drake assist on the remix.
